Pirates Sign Defensive Back Johnny Harris

Last year Harris was a finalist for the Aeneas Williams Award which goes to the best defensive back among players at HBCU Division One schools.

Harris, who took part in the NFL HBCU Showcase, played in 28 games for the Wildcats from 2023 through 2025. He accumulated 68 tackles with three interceptions and 13 passes defended. He also forced fumbles and recovered one.

His signature game was against Florida International last season as a red shirt senior. He tied his single game high of six tackles in a game. Two of those stops were for a loss and he also broke up a pass.
