The Orlando Pirates have signed offensive lineman Nick Jones
ORLANDO, FL - The Orlando Pirates of the Indoor Football League have signed offensive lineman Nick Jones for the 2026 season. The Mississippi native made a name for himself at Mississippi State before joining the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
While things didn't work out in the CFL, the 6'3'' 300-pounder is ready to prove himself in a new setting. The Pirates have a stacked quarterback room, and now they have another offensive lineman to help win in the trenches.
During his collegiate career, Jones did just that. He started 25 games in his career, starting each of the last 12 games he appeared in. With 32 career games played in the SEC, it's quite impressive to know Jones only allowed eight total sacks.
Jones, 25, is versatile as he's able to play both left tackle and left guard. During his senior season in 2023, he played exclusively left guard and allowed three sacks in 657 snaps. Not only does Jones rarely allow sacks, but he's well disciplined as well as he was penalized just five times during the year.
Running back Woody Marks, who's gone on to have a successful NFL career, had back to back 100-yard rushing games thanks to Jones. To make things even more impressive, he was the Bulldogs first 100-yard rusher in four years.
Mississippi State fans quickly forgot that Jones originally began his career at East Mississippi CC. Jones was a Top 10 junior college offensive tackle, per 247Sports. Making the transition to the SEC wasn't easy, but Jones passed with flying colors and now he's ready for his next challenge with the Pirates.
